In 2013 Automobili Lamborghini SpA was celebrating their 50th anniversary, being founded in 1963, and it was time to create something really special for all those Lamborghini fans out there ... the Aventador LP720-4 was created to be the 50th Anniversary model, much like the Countach 25th Anniversary, the Diablo SE30 and the Murciélago 40th ... but something totally different was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show ... the Lamborghini Veneno.

Only three were built for customers, all three sold out before the car was even shown ... so Lamborghini decided to come up with something new ... later in 2013, the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster was shown, with a €300,000 premium over the closed coupe version and a limited production run of only 9 customer cars ... and the added bonus of customers being able to choose their color (the coupe was only available in Metalluro).

The factory press car (serial 0) was finished in a stunning, dark red metallic paint that reminded us of the unique Aventador J, and something else was similar between the J and the Veneno Roadster ... neither had a roof designed for them ... these were true Roadsters, and no roof was available ...

So, in the end, two would be finished in Rosso Veneno, one in Nero Nemesis, two in Nero Aldebaran, two in Bianco Isis, one in a clear carbon matte finish ... and two in Verde. One of the latter was finished in Verde Miura with green livery on the wheels and sills while the other one was finished in Verde ... but with no other details known, this one has never been photographed.

The scale model

From the nine Lamborghini Veneno Roadster built, the Verde Miura one was the last one, chassis 9 ... but it came with the Verde livery on the front bumper, side sills, rear wing and on the tires ... so this Kyosho model isn't really a replica of that one ... so did Kyosho manage to create the #5 Veneno Roadster? The one that hasn't been seen in public or in photographs ... ever?

Honestly, I don't know, and I can't confirm or deny if Kyosho got it right and created a nice 1/18 scale model of an existing Veneno Roadster, which would have to be the #5 then ... I wouldn't be too sure about that to be honest, remember Kyosho also did an orange Veneno Roadster, which doesn't exist in real life, and they also did some more fantasy shades on their Veneno Coupe ... so I wouldn't be too sure about this green Veneno Roadster being a perfect replica of the real life #5 chassis.

But it does look really nice in this bright green metallic paint, the black carbon fiber contrasts ever so nicely with the green, and if you look closely, the back of the seats are color coded with the exterior ... but I'm not really a fan of adding red livery on a green car, it looks a bit out of place, and it would have looked so much better if they color coded the livery with the body.

Bottom line

So why did I add this specific model to my collection then? I have all three liveries on the Veneno Coupe, one made by AUTOart which is the original Rosso one, and two made by Kyosho in this same Ousia series, add the original Veneno Rosso Roadster I also own by Kyosho ... and it made sense for me to add this bright green Roadster to the collection too, despite probably not looking exactly like the real one.

Now as I already owned the Rosso Veneno version from Kyosho, I knew about the quality of this model before I unboxed her, so I'm not complaining about the fact they actually created the carbon fiber pattern straight onto the plastic ... unlike AUTOart which uses a nice printed decal.

Also, the seats look like plastic, plain and simple, while inside the real Veneno Roadster these are upholstered in Alcantara ... but still, at only €75 I couldn't resist adding a second Veneno Roadster to my collection, and I'm quite happy with it on display next to my dark red one ...
