Did you know there was a 1/24 scale Lamborghini Huracan made by Bburago that cost €100 when new?
There were two in fact, this yellow one and a similar one in green (I'm looking to add the latter to the collection too), and truth be told, it wasn't just the model itself that was sold at €100, it was actually a ticket to enter a competition where you could win a real Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 ... for a year.
Back in 2019, for the 10th anniversary of The Zoute Grand Prix in Knokke, Belgium, there was a competition where you bought this model, which came inside a very stylish box, mounted on a heavy plinth and inside a display case, and you got a Bburago membership card with an individual number.
This was a limited-edition, bespoke model that came with The Zoute crest on the hood and a cartouche with the number 19 on the doors, only 5,000 were available, but I've heard just a little over half of these got sold before the competition ended and one lucky member received a real Lamborghini Huracan to enjoy for one year, complete with fuel and all costs paid.
If I remember correctly this limited-edition Bburago model was only available inside the pop-up Bburago Experience shop in Knokke during The Zoute event in 2019, and I wasn't able to get there, so I didn't enter the competition and let's face it, €100 is a steep price for a 1/24 Bburago model anyway, still it would have been nice to have a chance at driving a real Huracan for 12 months.
I think it was November 2019 when the lucky winner received the bright green wrapped Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 at an event at Autoworld in Brussels, so I should try to get the green model car too right, but instead, I found this yellow one available from someone who bought it back in 2019 in Knokke, for the aforementioned €100, sadly he didn't win the real car, and let go of it for a lot less.
The scale model
I have to mention the packaging of this limited-edition Bburago 1/24 scale model is absolutely amazing, it comes inside a brown cardboard box with the membership card taped to the cover, while the model itself is fixed on top of a very heavy, carbon lookalike plinth with a cover, inside a stylish hexagon protection sleeve.
The inside of this sleeve is yellow, and I've seen the green model comes with the sleeve in green, so that's a very nice detail, albeit the model itself looks like the regular Bburago 1/24 Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4, still no side windows, a simple engine, and an all-black interior, apart from the bespoke The Zoute decals there doesn't seem to be any difference between this one and the standard €25 model.
But it's a nice item to add to the collection, usually, I don't get too many 1/24 or 1/43 scale Bburago models, but this one caught my eye and I couldn't resist adding it, it sits inside my display case next to the POG special edition POGTADOR, another limited-edition 1/24 Bburago that was €45, and they are a nice match ... it would have been even nicer if that POGTADOR would have come inside a nice display like this one too.
