Back in the early Sixties the late Ferruccio Lamborghini was a wealthy man, so he owned several exotic cars, among them a Ferrari.
According to the legend he had some serious problems with the clutch on this car and decided to confront Enzo Ferrari himself with his problem ... the latter refused to meet with Ferruccio, which made him so angry he decided to beat Enzo at his own game and build a much better GT car than Ferrari ever had.
Now this is only a rumor, but it does show the character of Ferruccio Lamborghini, he was a self made man and probably imagined that building high performance GT cars would be a sound business idea.
So he asked Franco Scaglione to design his brand new GT while he himself built a completely new factory at Sant'Agata where he would produce these amazing V12 super cars.
The result was the 350 GTV for Gran Turismo Veloce, but the design didn't receive the warm welcome Ferruccio had hoped for, so he had Touring re-design it ... which became the 350 GT production car, however the 350 GTV was in fact the very first car Lamborghini ever made.
This 1/43 scale model by Starline looks really nice, and what's even better it is priced very reasonably. Also note that you can also buy it with the headlights open ... and in the nice dark green shade as it is currently located in the factory museum. Note that this silver metallic shade also exists in real life ... as a wooden mock up study which is shown in the Tonino Lamborghini Museum in Cento.
