“The final production version of the Lamborghini Countach was the 25th Anniversary edition, and Premium X Models has just released a very nice 1/43 scale model of it.”

The LamboDieCast review :

Remember the Lamborghini Countach ? I'm sure you do, this specific car was probably featured on more bedroom walls than any other ... at least in my bedroom it was, I even had a very nice poster of a red car with a great looking lady posing on top of the windshield ... these days this very poster has become a collector's item ... which the 1/43 model on this page also is.

This is a scale model of the final production version of her majesty the Countach, the 25th Anniversary model to be exact ... you've guessed it, the year was 1988 and Automobili Lamborghini SpA was founded 25 years earlier, in 1963, so a special celebration model was required.

In fact the Lamborghini Diablo should have been ready by then, but things turned out differently, so the Countach 25th Anniversary was designed in a hurry, keep the chassis for homologation reasons and change the bodywork just enough to get a different car that still looked like the QV model so people would recognize it, but still different enough to have people buy it.

The styling of this model wasn't liked by everybody, some found the design too smooth, others just loved the new round curves of this model, safe to say it wasn't a marketing disaster as over 600 were eventually sold ... and they intended this to be a limited edition model to close the gap between the QV and it's successor the Diablo ... but time showed differently didn't it ?

Back to this model, it is a small 1/43 scale model from a new company, I now have two models from Premium X, they also build the original Countach LP5000 prototype, so I bought both at the same time ... the very first Countach to be built and this one, the very last Countach ever built.

That's right, the last Countach to leave the assembly line at Sant'Agata was kept at the factory to be shown in the official museum, finished in silver metallic over a grey interior instead of the classic red over tan (Premium X also offers the red over tan version by the way) ... note only a few Countach were ordered in this combination, so it is rare too.

This isn't a Looksmart model, so don't expect the same attention to detail, but still I was pleasantly surprised by this one, for only 49 Euro (I've seen them listed for 39 Euro too) this model is very nicely finished, the wheels show the original multi piece layout very nicely, and most of the 25th Anniversary Countach models did have them chromed, so even that detail is covered nicely.

So if you are looking to add a very nice, not too expensive 1/43 scale model of two of the most important Countach models ever, Premium X is a good place to start the search.
