Ok, I will admit it, I really like the Lamborghini Miura model, especially the brutal looking SVJ version like this one ... add matte black into the equation and I'm sold, can't resist, so I got this special, limited edition from Kyosho in 1/43 scale, only 1000 units were built and I managed to get hold of one with a discount, what more could you ask for ?
In this intimidating matte black shade the Miura SVJ looks even more menacing, although I must admit I'm not a big fan of those red wheels, the red interior on the other hand I can enjoy, but I would prefer gold or even black painted wheels a bit more.
I already have the original red version of this model from Kyosho, so I knew what to expect from it, and this new black version looks very nicely finished too, again the engine cover can be opened to admire the stunning V12 engine with the open carburetor funnels.
I must warn you about this one however, the matte black paint is very easily scratched or damaged, as you now I also have the new matte black Lamborghini Murcielago Super Veloce in 1/18 from AutoArt, and the paint has a much higher resistance … and I handle my models with white cotton gloves on just to avoid any fingerprints on them … and still I managed to get a ‘swipe' on the front fender of this Kyosho model.
Fortunately I have some special cleaning material from Lamborghini themselves, which they sell to maintain the actual matte paint on the 1:1 cars, and it was able to remove the marks on this model very nicely … do NOT make the mistake to put normal wax on a matte model … it will start to shine, which isn't the finish we are looking for in this case.
Everything taken into account I have no regrets adding this black Miura SVJ to my collection, I just love the matte black shade on it, sure it isn't right on a Miura, and nobody in his right mind would actually wrap or paint a real Miura like this … but still it has a prominent place in my displays.
