I know there is no such thing as a Lamborghini Aventador Super Veloce in real life ... yet, I'm sure someday it will be built in Sant'Agata, so I went to work in PhotoShop and created a virtual version of such a high power, light weight version of the latest V12 flagship using paint and sourcing parts from another model in my collection.

I decided to paint some parts of the bodywork in satin black, I guess mat black would also work, but satin still gives a soft shine, which I prefered in this case, so the bottom of the front and rear bumper got some fresh paint as did a large part on the side ... it looked good in PhotoShop ... and it looks even better in rear life.

But painting was only the start, a Super Veloce version should get some nice details to competely differentiate it from the original car, so I got looking around in my collection ... and decided to pull apart my old Maisto made Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera and use it as a donor for my new V12 Super Veloce version.

I ended up using various parts of this V10, like the wheels, the disc brakes, the seats and naturally the rear wing, naturally these didn't fit as is, so I had to carefully modify most of these parts. The disc brakes for instance are chrome on the Maisto model ... I couldn't fit them like that, so I painted them silver metallic, the rear ones fitted easily, but the front ones were a problem, so I had to alter them considerably.

Same thing with the wheels, this time the front ones were a breeze, but the rear ones would disappear into the wheel arch too much, so I had to fabricate spacers ... the tires were equal in width compared to the original Aventador ones on the Bburago model, but the entire wheel sat about 2mm too far into the bodywork.

Another issue arose when putting it all back together ... the special sports seats with their racing harness seat belts I also sourced from the Maisto made Superleggera were just a bit too tall, probably because when looking at the details, the Superleggera is a real 1/18 scale while the Bburago Aventador is in fact more a 1/19 scale mode, so I had to modify to seats to sit a bit lower into the floorpan.

The rear wing was drilled out from the Superleggera engine cover, which is metal by the way, using a Dremel tool I made the two feet flat and changed the angle a bit to make it look better once installed on the Aventador ... which wasn't as easy as it sounds, I had to put the wing all the way at the rear of the V12 otherwise the engine cover wouldn't open anymore, details perhaps, but I like it to work after modification.

As for the engine cover, this one is a spare part I received with my Reventon GT a while ago, there was a small problem with it, and as a gesture I got some extra parts for free with it ... I decided to get out the Dremel once again and cut this engine cover with the massive air intake to fit right in the space left by the 'glass' engine cover originally mounted.

Naturally a Super Veloce version of this V12 flagship needs a different exhaust, I made a new one featuring two massive round tips from brass piping. Again some fiddling with the Dremel to make it all look and fit right, but I must admit I'm happy with the results.

Normally I don't modify any of my models, I don't have the time nor the patience to put the necessary work into it, but this time I spent my weekend on building a model nobody else has, and as I actually owned two copies of the orange Bburago Aventador the risk was minimal.
