Unveiled at the 1995 Geneva Motor Show, the Lamborghini Diablo SV marked the next evolution of the Diablo family. Reviving the legendary Sport Veloce name first used on the Miura SV, the new model delivered 510 horsepower to the rear wheels only, making it the most exhilarating, and unforgiving, Diablo of its time.

Positioned as the entry-level Diablo, the SV was hardly inexpensive. While it carried the lowest price tag in the range, ownership remained an expensive affair, with maintenance costs and massive 335-section rear tires ensuring running costs matched its supercar status. For enthusiasts, however, every dollar was worth it.

The SV stood out with an aggressive new front bumper, enlarged cooling intakes, a distinctive engine cover with twin air scoops inspired by the SE30 Jota, a black rear panel, four oval exhaust tips, and a standard adjustable rear wing. Early cars featured 17-inch front wheels, later upgraded to 18-inch rims to accommodate larger brakes.

Inside, Alcantara upholstery replaced standard leather, color-coded gauges reinforced the sporting atmosphere, and embroidered SV logos adorned the seats. A driver's airbag became standard for the 1998 model year.

Large "SV" decals on the doors became one of the model's defining styling cues, although buyers could request the car without them. In the United States, similar decals were even offered on other Diablo variants.

I've always been a big fan of the Diablo SV, I love the styling and the idea behind it, a more 'raw' driving experience, a so-called stripped down version of the Diablo 2WD, and who doesn't love a pair of air intakes visible over the roof? So whenever I find a scale model of the Diablo SV, I'm interested.

This might be just a small-scale 1/64 version, finished in Giallo Super Fly, but it looks even better than some 1/43 scale counterparts, the headlights work, and you can even open the engine cover (I haven't tried it yet, but I will) ... and get this, if you push on the engine from below, it can be lifted from the model, how's that for display purposes.

You might have gathered it already, but I really love this Micro Turbo 1/64 scale model of the Lamborghini Diablo SV, in that iconic yellow with the massive SV script on the side, this really is a very nice, albeit small, model of an iconic Lamborghini V12.
