It took me a very long time to finally add this rare Lamborghini scale model to my collection, the Lamborghini Jota SVR in red from The Circuit Wolf series, created by Kyosho on a 1/18 scale, and only sold in the Far East, so virtually impossible to find in Europe, let alone within the EU.
It is a rare model indeed, but it isn't impossible to find, at any given time there are a few of these listed for sale on eBay, but so far all of them were located in Japan, Hong Kong, or another country in the Far East, and prices vary wildly and come with inflated shipping costs.
So it took me a while before I took the plunge and ordered this model from a seller in Taiwan, which naturally imposed high import costs before I could add it to the collection, so this isn't a cheap model by any stretch of the imagination. Still, in my case it was the final Kyosho 1/18 scale Lamborghini Miura SVR to complete my collection, I now own 9 different versions of this model, of which just one exists in real life.
And that includes no less than 4 in red, that's right, Kyosho released this model initially in their 'Gorgeous Collection' series many years ago, item number 08311R, red on black with 'Jota' script on the end plates of the roof-mounted wing.
At one time the owner of this car located in Japan replaced the black interior with gold leather, another version Kyosho released, item number 08311RG, during the 're-release' era from Kyosho back in 2021, they came up with another red Miura SVR, this time with red end plates on the roof wing, item number 08319R, so that's three different red Miura SVR already, but in 2010 there was another one, a special edition called The Circuit Wolf, and it is this specific one, item number 08311CWM that finally entered my collection.
From what I understand there were four different Lamborghini models released by Kyosho on a 1/18 scale in this 'Circuit Wolf Museum' series, a green Urraco, an orange Miura S, a black Countach, and this red Miura SVR, and all of them are slightly different compared to the regular releases of the same time. (The TriColore Miura from Kyosho isn't really a Circuit Wolf Museum edition but a limited-edition 2007 Motor Collection version, decorated by Satoshi Ikezawa)
When it comes to this Lamborghini Miura SVR, or 'Lamborghini Jota SVR The Circuit Wolf' as it is listed on the box, the details are what makes a difference, unlike on the Urraco and Miura S, this one doesn't come with Japanese license plates, but the Miura SVR comes with a large '6' starting number, on the front hood and both doors.
But that's not the only difference, the interior is a different shade too, the dashboard and central console are a darker shade of tan, also the bottom of the door card shows this dark tan color as a contrast, while the seats are black, on the regular Miura SVR in red the entire interior is black.
And there is more, note the exterior rearview mirrors on the doors, none of the regular Miura SVR have those, and also note the wheels, still the massively wide, deep-dish BBS wheels, but with a black center on The Circuit Wolf edition, all the others come in either silver or gold ... and there is one more little detail.
Taking a closer look at the side sills and the engine cover louvers, you'll notice they are finished in a dark grey metallic paint ... not in black as seen on the regular, red Miura SVR from Kyosho, just one more thing to make this Circuit Wolf Museum edition stand out, and deserve a place in my collection.
As this model came all the way from Taiwan, it got stuck at our local customs, for three weeks that is, after which they came up with an invoice for import costs, administration fees, and VAT ... making a grand total of €90 on top of the purchase price and shipping costs ... thank you customs.
