The Lamborghini Urus has been a controversial model from Sant'Agata since the start, some people really didn't like the fact that the Raging Bull logo adorned an SUV, let alone a V8 twin-turbo powered one that shares a lot of basics with the Audi RSQ8, which happens to be a lot cheaper when new, for not much less performance, but get this, on the second hand market the Urus holds its value a lot better than that RSQ8, in the end it is still a Lamborghini, and one that can be daily driven, and you can bring the kids to school in if needed.

And then we get into the tuning scene, as usual, Mansory was among the first to offer a complete vehicle modification, called the Venatus, and you either love it, or hate it, which is common when it comes to Mansory anyway, and while there are a few other 'widebody' conversions out there for the Urus, one of the more well-known ones is naturally Liberty Walk, so Kato-san created the LB-Works Urus kit, which is what we have here on a 1/18 model from VIP Scale Models, finished in Fighter grey.

The LB-Works Urus kit consists of a front spoiler, a front lip, side skirts, a rear diffuser, a large rear wing, and a smaller wing to fit at the bottom of the rear window, and naturally four wide 'fenders' to get that widebody look on your Lamborghini, as an option there is also a 'vented' LB-Works engine cover ... but that's only the kit itself, and finished in dry carbon fiber your looking at about $60,000 at the time of writing, unfitted, unpainted.

But then the fun is just beginning, you'll need a set of wheels to match that wider bodystyle, preferably 23-inch off course, and a set of lowering springs, most likely an airride of some kind so you can lower the Bull to the ground, for looks naturally, while for sound, you'll have to fit a more 'thundering' exhaust system to match the aggressive looks.

Contrary to Mansory, we don't see many modifications for the interior from Liberty Walk, but what if you fitted four racing seats in a Lamborghini Urus? I think that could look very impressive nonetheless.

The Lamborghini Urus LB-Works by VIP Scale Models

So how does the LB-Works Lamborghini Urus from VIP Scale Models look? I went specifically for the Fighter Grey release because I rather like that style on the Liberty Walk models, and also because I know some manufacturers can't seem to get it right. For some strange reason, there are always small defects in this matte grey paint.

But I have to admit, VIP got it nearly right, there are a few small things that could have been improved in the paint, but that's not the issue with this model, especially when you think about the fact that the regular price for these 1/18 VIP Scale Models is about €400, and that's just too expensive for the overall quality of these models.

There are a lot of carbon fiber decals to be found on this LB-Works Urus, and while I sure couldn't do a better job fitting them myself, I would expect them to be better on a €400 model, I do admire the way VIP did the typical 'V' in the center of the carbon fiber parts, I really like that, but there are a few flaws in the decals, and that's a pity.

Also, the satin black vents that can be found throughout the styling of the LB-Works Urus aren't always nicely painted. I think these are really hand-painted by someone, and the edges aren't perfect. If I were doing a 1/18 scale kit, I would pay more attention to details like that ... am I being too pedantic about it here?

So is this 1/18 model of the LB-Works Lamborghini Urus from VIP Scale Models worth adding to the collection? I would say it is, especially in this Fighter Grey livery, but I waited for them to be on sale to add it, paying €274 including shipment for it, and that's about what these are worth in my opinion, not €400, do note that Ivy also makes this model, not sure they offer it in Fighter Grey too, but you have a choice.

These VIP Scale Models LB-Works Lamborghini Urus are a limited production run, only 99 units are being made, and each one comes with an individually numbered plaque, I managed to get a very early production number, 04, which is nice to have anyway.
