The stunning Lamborghini Murcielago LP670 SuperVeloce was introduced in 2009 on the Geneva Auto Show, but a large scale model car like this 1/18 model hasn't been unveiled until MR came up with it, naturally MR builds stunning scale models but sadly with a rather high price tag.

So I initially didn't get one of them, I would have loved to get a yellow one like the car used for the Geneva Show, but I couldn't get myself to pay over US $400 for such a model

MR builds these models in a limited production run, each color (yellow, orange, black and white) will only be made a specific number of times, and as usual the yellow one sold out rather quickly, do note that there is also a Carbon Fiber version, a black version with white parts and recently I found a matt black edition too, so MR is building them in limited quantities, but apparently they have no issue with building ever increasing shades these days.

Some lucky day when I was browing the eBay site I encountered a white 1/18 MR SuperVeloce that was listed by a seller in Hong Kong ... but in an auction with no "buy now" option, and the price was relatively low for this car, the text talked about the yellow car, so I was very cautious with this, but he had good feedback, and responded to my mail about the color and shipment to Europe very quickly ... so I decided to take a chance and put a bid in ... and I won it for an amount that would otherwise get me two 1/18 AutoArt models, which is very cheap for this MR model.

Naturally I was a bit worried, if it sounds too good to be true is usually is on eBay, so I used Paypal with buyer protection and took the dive ... and behold, a week later UPS arrived at my doorstep with a nice cardboard box holding a pristine 1/18 MR scale model of the stunning Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce

And to be honest, this MR is worth every penny, sure it is expensive, but check out the details on these MR cars, they are stunning, I now own two of them, this white SuperVeloce and their 1/18 Reventon ... but frankly the SuperVeloce is even better finished compared to their Reventon model.

If you look very closely you can even see the 'SV' scripting and the serial number between the seats, how's that for detail ? This white version features the larger 'SV' scripting on the side compared to the yellow one, but I don't mind, it suits this car perfectly together with that massive carbon fiber rear wing.

The nice hexagon glass sections in the otherwise carbon fiber engine cover clearly show the nicely detailed V12 engine while the interior is equally impressively detailed ... too bad MR only offers a sealed model, it would be great to be able to open the doors or engine cover, but I guess the price would be even higher, so for now I'm very happy with this white 1/18 model.

When you look closely at the wheels you will notice the carbon disc brakes, just like on the real deal, it's amazing how much attention to detail goes into these MR models, no wonder they are so expensive, to be honest this MR 1/18 SuperVeloce is the second most expensive Lamborghini scale model in my collection, so it received a nice, central position in my showcase ... such a masterpiece deserve all the attention, it shouldn't be put between other models, this work of art has every right to his very own glass plate in your collection.

Sure it's expensive, but remember these are limited edition, hand built models. I hope we'll see AutoArt bring out a 1/18 SuperVeloce model too, and when they do I will surely add it to my collection too, but this MR will always keep it's special place in any collection it is part of, some models just claim their position and never let go.
