Now this is what I call a bad looking Bull ... being black on the outside, black on the inside and rolling on glossy black wheels this Nero Aldebaran shade on the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 from AutoArt looks as bad as can be, I doubt any of the other shade make this final production version of the Murciélago look more intimidating and aggressive.

I also own the yellow, orange and green ones, and actually really like the Verde Ithaca shade on this model, but I really love a black Lamborghini, and this LP640 is no different, it looks awesome, totally insane to photograph correctly, but looks are a stunner anyway.

AutoArt made this one look really impressive, even the brake calipers were left in black, imagine how it would look with red calipers and some orange on the seats and doors … perhaps an idea for a mod later on, for now however I am going to leave it totally original, I don't want to risk changing the one shade that turns out to be the most valuable later on.

So I spent way too much money on getting all four shades AutoArt released for their 1/18 scale model, but I have no regrets to be honest, the metallic yellow looks great on just about every Lamborghini ever made, especially those with the big V12 engine in the mid position. On the other hand the orange has some more punch in it, it attracts a bit more attention compared to the yellow, but it looks totally out of place on a Countach for instance.

So how about the Verde Ithaca shade, it is a stunning shade, and finally on the LP640 model AutoArt mixed it right, their Murciélago 6.2 model in that shade is just too green, it isn't correct. But then again it looks equally nice an a Miura, but for some reason the Countach and Diablo don't really look at their best in this bright green shade, a Diablo GT  might just be getting away with it, an outrageous apple green shade on an equally outrageous Diablo works well.

But which shade works on every Raging Bull model ? Yep … black is such an universally 'bad' shade it works on everything that has the Lamborghini crest on it, Miura, Countach, Diablo, Murciélago, Gallardo and now Aventador … they all look beautiful in black. Even the classic 350GT, Espada, Islero and Jarama look good dressed in black … heck the Jalpa is a stunner in red, but almost as nice in black too.

The only downside to a black Lamborghini is the fact this dark shade covers a lot of details in the design of the car, photographing a black car isn't easy … in fact I don't like doing it at all because it takes forever in post processing, every little dust speckle has to be painstakingly removed, and that takes too much time.

But on the other hand it does mean you discover new little details on the model every time you look at it, because of the dark shade you might have missed these little thing the first time you took it out of the box, but AutoArt did put everything into this model, and on these more recent models the doors stay open too. AutoArt finally made the decision to put small springs on the door mechanism so they 'pop' open at once.

However as with all but one of my AutoArt made Lamborghini Murciélago models the air intakes do not stay open on this one, but I've come to the point I no longer care about those details in fact, I don't put my models on display with open hoods and doors anyway, so who cares about a vent that won't stay open, would have been nice if AutoArt would put a spring or something on these too however, just to make it perfect.

So if you would ask me which shade to go for I would have to think about it, personally I love a black Lamborghini, but I must admit it doesn't have the same 'shelve presence' as the Verde Ithaca shade, the latter is so 'in your face' you simply can't walk by the display case without seeing it … on the other hand both the yellow and orange shade look really nice, but a bit more classic to be honest, so my first choice would be this black one, with the green shade a close second.
