It is always good to find a model totally unexpected at a local car show, and this 1/43 scale model of the unique Lamborghini Countach prototype was such an occasion, I had seen it online already, but didn't order it because I found it too expensive for a totally unknown make, but when I found it in real life I could see it was a very nice model and bought it right away.
Note this is a model of the one and only prototype on the legendary Countach model, this is the only one that received the LP5000 designation from the factory, and today the real car no longer exists … it was used as a certification model at the Mira crash barrier testing facility in the United Kingdom after it had been heavily modified and driven on the public road to get it ready for production.
Premium X models is also offering this model in a different shade, but that is just not correct, the LP5000 prototype was yellow, so you should get this shade if you are serious about collecting Lamborghini models. As far as I know only Looksmart or MR ever made a 1/43 model of the original Countach prototype, and they are rather expensive, so the price for this new model is very reasonable at 49 Euro (it can be found at 39 Euro even, so I paid too much for it in the end).
These models come in a nice box, complete with real metal plate that shows the name of the model and ‘limited edition' on it, however there are no numbers mentioned anywhere, neither is there a certificate with the model, so I will take the limited edition with a grain of salt … not too serious in fact.
But the model itself is actually very nice, the details are nicely done, some really fine parts are used, the wheels look very good, only thing on mine was the fact the window frame on the side let go at the top, but I already fixed it with a drop of super glue, taken into account these are probably shipped from China anyway you can expect something like this happening during transport, so I don't worry about it too much, nothing was damaged and that's the most important thing here.
I for one am very happy with this new model, I didn't have a decent scale model of the Countach Prototype yet, sure I've got the 1/64 Matchbox made one, but let's be honest, that's a toy, this 1/43 model is a collector's item, and a very moderately priced one for that matter, so I can wholeheartedly advice you to get one of these for your collection … and what's even better, they also offer the silver metallic Countach 25th Anniversary edition with the grey interior … just like the very last Countach ever built, safe to say I got that one too.
