The Gallardo SE was a limited edition model launched by Lamborghini back in 2005 which featured some interesting 'upgrades' compared to the regular production model, such as new wheels and a more powerful engine with 520 Bhp and most importantly only 250 would be built in six specific shades.
Unfortunately all these 'extras' would also become available on the regular production model from 2006 on, so why go for this SE model ? For one because it featured a really nice, two tone color coded interior, black rear view mirrors and a glass engine cover.
Enough about the real car, let's see how Norev did when they turned it into a 1/18 scale model ... well not too good to be honest, it still has the same flaw as their Spyder and Nera versions of the Gallardo ... the wheels look really strange, and they put a rather nice model down, it's as simple as that.
Next comes the detail and finish, everything is there, no question about that, it is nicely detailed, not like an AutoArt or Kyosho model, but still better than the early Bburago or Maisto models, so that's covered well by Norev.
But they really should get some better people to finish these models, the painting is awefull, sorry, but the trimming and two tone interior are just badly done in my opinion ... keep in mind that in the US these models aren't the cheapest ones (fortunately in Europe prices are moderate, around 35 Euro), but for that kind of money I expect more to be quite frankly.
The yellow shade on the interior is not exactly color coded with the exterior, it's a kind of greenish, yellow tint, a bit more attention to this kind of details would make this model really stand out.
I think I'll still be converting a nice orange AutoArt Gallardo into an SE model, but until that project is finished this Norev still has it's place in my collection as being the only 1/18 model available, too bad Norev didn't go the extra mile on this one.
